The DFG provides an RDM checklist, which should be answered in the appropriate level of detail in the proposal. The basic topics are basically the same from individual funding to collaborative research centers. However, the scope, subject specifics and how data management in large projects is organized between sub-projects differ.

The FAU CDI GitLab provides extended handouts and texts for quick reference. While the focus in on DFG grants, other funders such as the ERC are also covered.

Version control systems for text and software management serve to track changes made to files over time, enabling collaboration, maintaining a history of revisions, and facilitating efficient coordination among team members. They also ensure the integrity and consistency of code or documents by providing a centralized repository for storage, retrieval, and synchronization.

At FAU, the RRZE operates two gitlab instances. They support the git protokoll and offer additional features for collaboration, like bug tracking, mile stone management and a wiki:

You may restrict access to contents of your projects to a defined group of people as well as having it available for public access.

Data management plans (DMP) document the current data management considerations in a project. Some funding agencies expect a DMP as part of the grant application. This includes, for example, the VW Foundation, certain BMBF funding programmes, and most  funders from the United Kingdom. Other funding agencies, in particular the ERC, only expect a DMP after the official start of an already funded project.

CDI provides support in preparing a data management plan. For DMPs for DFG proposals (which are not part of the application) and for Horizon/ERC projects as well as generic projects, templates can be found in the FAU RDMO instance.
